This Month’s Mystic Rectangle
A fairly rare mystic rectangle is forming this month, and it’s definitely rare in its longevity. Comprised of mostly slow-moving planets Pluto, Saturn and Mars (which has middling speed), plus Venus, it’s been moving into formation since about the 10th of March and is definitely in orb now (see chart below). It remains in effect through the 17th.
What is its meaning? Well, as always, we must first look at the nature of the planets involved in the aspect pattern. And in this case, 3 of the 4 planets are difficult and harsh in nature. The ongoing Mars-Pluto opposition is an explosive combination, and when we add in the restrictive nature of Saturn, it just doesn’t feel too warm and fuzzy. Only Venus can soften things up, and she’s badly outnumbered.
Michael Meyer, in his Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer says of this complex aspect, “it’s represents a synthetic and integrative ability, because it combines awareness (opposition), understanding (trine), and productivity (sextile), as well as linking complementary elements.”
Let us hope that the big guns find a way to cooperate. May Venus in her exaltation (Pisces) shine her light and bring peace.
